Dr. Nelson is board-certified in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Washington University, St. Louis School of Medicine (1979-1983) and then completed her residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (1983-1986). In addition, Dr. Nelson completed a fellowship at the University of Utah Hospital (1986-1989).
Dr. Patricia Nelson has been a practicing physician since 1986. Her employment experience includes two years as a life flight air transport physician for LDS Hospital and over two decades as a pulmonary and critical care physician in numerous capacities, including instructing research and consulting. Her practice brought her to Murray in 1994 with The Heart and Lung Institute of Utah where she practiced until 2011. In 2011, Dr. Nelson decided to assist with the opening of the Sleep and Lung Clinic of Utah, where she is currently practicing. She is also affiliated with Intermountain Healthcare Hospitals, primarily practicing at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
Dr. Nelson enjoys horseback riding, writing, hiking, cross country skiing, and gardening.
